Conversations

Elyxir automatically saves your conversations, allowing you to continue past chats and reference previous interactions.

Conversation History

Accessing History

1. Click the sidebar toggle or press Ctrl/Cmd + /
2. View your conversation list sorted by date
3. Click any conversation to continue

Conversation List

The sidebar shows:

• Conversation title: Auto-generated from the first message
• Date: When the conversation was last active
• Preview: First few words of the conversation
• Model indicator: Which model was primarily used

Continuing Conversations

When you open a past conversation:

• Full message history is loaded
• Context is preserved for the AI
• You can continue where you left off
• The same model settings apply

Managing Conversations

Renaming

1. Hover over a conversation in the sidebar
2. Click the menu icon (three dots)
3. Select Rename
4. Enter a new title

Deleting

1. Hover over a conversation
2. Click the menu icon
3. Select Delete
4. Confirm deletion

Exporting

Export conversations for reference:

1. Open the conversation
2. Click the menu icon
3. Select Export
4. Choose format:
   • Markdown: Human-readable format
   • JSON: Structured data for processing

Multi-Turn Context

Elyxir maintains context across messages:

You: What is React?
AI: React is a JavaScript library for building user interfaces...

You: How does it compare to Vue?
AI: Comparing React to Vue... [AI understands "it" refers to React]

Context Best Practices

1. Stay on topic: Context works best for related questions
2. Reference clearly: Use "it" and "that" when context is clear
3. Start fresh: New conversations for unrelated topics
4. Summarize if needed: Recap key points for long conversations

Conversation Organization

By Project

Associate conversations with projects:

1. Open a conversation
2. Click Add to Project
3. Select or create a project

By Date

Conversations are automatically grouped:

• Today
• Yesterday
• Previous 7 days
• Previous 30 days
• Older

Search

Find specific conversations:

1. Use the search bar in the sidebar
2. Search by keywords in messages
3. Filter by date range
